Why Nursing?

I chose nursing because of one experience that I had to deal with. This experience was that my sister had cancer and was always in the hospital getting tests done and chemotherapy. She is my hero. She went through so much in her short life. She lived two and a half years and basically spent most of her time in the hospital. This experience will help me throughout my journey of becoming a nurse.

She spent most of her life in the Hospital for Sick Kids. This is the hospital that I would like to work in some day. Having the experience in this hospital will help me know what goes on in this hospital anywhere. Experiences are one of the best ways of learning!

Keeping Your Child Clean

In my opinion keeping your children clean will keep them healthy. Keeping them clean will destroy many types of bacteria that can cause many different types of diseases. You, as the parent should always make sure that they wash their hands after anything that could expose germs. Washing their hands will keep germs off their hands, and since they use their hands for everything they will have bacteria all over them.

Keeping your children clean can be difficult though, so to make it easier the parents could clean the child’s toys too. Keeping their toys clean will keep the bacteria off their toys and off their hands and decrease their risk of getting sick.

Nursing Shortage

I believe that there will always be a shortage of nurses. I think this because not all people can handle taking care of people. Also, not all people are a people person, which means that they can’t stand talking to people because they get angry at them too fast.

The nursing shortage may not always be bad where we need 1000’s of nurses. It could become that hospitals, nursing homes and etc may still need more nurses just not always so many where it causes a huge shortage. It may be that these places just need some nurses but still too many to not be a shortage.

We need more nurses to get this shortage to disappear, even though I don’t think that it will ever go away. We also need more male nurses because there are a lot of religions that need the people in the hospital to have the same gender take care of them (eg. male to male and female to female). If the shortage does go away it will shock me, but it would make life easier on nurses.

Communication Barriers

In my opinion technology is helping to overcome the communication barriers in health care. It is helping to overcome the communication barriers, for the health care professionals can speak with their patients with the use of technology. Technology in the health care setting allows patients to communicate with their nurse. The technology can improve the way nurses communicate with their patients so they can explain what is going on with the patient’s situation. Also, it allows the nurses to communicate amongst each other even if they are in different hospitals, or in different areas. Nurses can also communicate with the people who don’t have access to health care. The nurses could go to them or they can go on the internet to look it up.

My Opinion on Blogging

Hey everyone. My name is Kristy and I’m in a first year nursing program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. I am very athletic and I love to play soccer. I am playing on women’s league right now. It is indoors and it is at the DISC (Durham Indoor Soccer Club). This league is just for fun for our team is in the lowest division possible. We won our first game 6-1 and we hope to do well throughout the season.
My thought on creating a blog is that it is a new way to learn about different ways of writing. I am very excited about learning about blogs and I hope I can keep people interested in my blog.
